Themeda australis

Themeda australis, (syn. Themeda triandra), commonly called Kangaroo Grass is a medium sized tufted native grass with green foliage most of the year and in autumn and heading into winter it changes colour and exhibits reddish and purple tones. In most coastal climates it will hold its colour through winter. For inland climates under heavy frost the foliage will brown off for the winter and in spring new growth will reshoot again. Kangaroo grass makes a great informal lawn, the key is to mow the grass on a high setting to get the best results.
