Lomandra longifolia 'LM300'

Tanika is an improved cultivar of Lomandra longifolia. It is a versatile grass that is suited to a wide range of climatic zones from the coast to inland. Once establish it has great frost and cold tolerance and is very drought hardly. When using Tanika in humid coastal climates of SE Queensland it performs best with some shade in the heat of the day and it must have a free draining soil. When mass planting Tanika in Queensland space the plants out more than usual to improve air circulation around the plants. Tanika need very little care apart from a trimming of the foliage every 2 to 3 years to remove any older foliage.

Tanika can grow in full sun to partial shade. In hot Queensland climates it benefits from some shade in the heat of the day.

Free draining sandy-loams to free draining light clay soils

Maintenance

Trim every 2 to 3 years if needed to remove older foliage. Fertilize with a controlled release fertilizer after pruning and water in well.

Q. If I want to plant a border of Tanika along my driveway how many per metre should I plant?

A. Tanika is an ideal border grass, the number to plant per linear metre will depend on the look you would like to achieve. If you want a solid border of foliage with no definition of the individual plants plant out at 30 to 40 cm centers. If you would like to see each plant and have a small gap between them plant out at 70 to 80 cm centers
