Trachelospermum jasminoides

Trachelospermum jasminoides gets its common name, Star Jasmine, from its star shaped flowers that have a heavy sweet perfume. They prefer a warm aspect in full sun to part shade with a rich well-drained soil. Once established they are very drought tolerant. Star Jasmine can be trained to cover fences and other garden structures but one of the main uses is as a ground cover.


Best suited to full sun to part shade. It will grow in heaver shade but won`t flower as well.

Soil Type

Heavier and rich soils types produce the best results.

As a ground cover 30cm X 1m plus wide; as a climber it will grow to cover objects to 2m tall X 1m plus wide
