Lavandula dentata, also called Fringed Lavender or French Lavender, is a flowering plant native to the Mediterranean regions of Europe. The plant forms mid-sized perennial shrub to 1 metre by 1 metre wide. The grey lance shaped leaves and flowers are aromatic and have been used in potpourri, dried flower arrangements and for making essential oils. In warm climates north of Sydney French Lavender will flower most of the year, in cooler climates it will flower in spring, summer and autumn. Most Lavender’s prefer a free draining soil in a sunny aspect. They are also very drought tolerant.
