Themeda australis

Themeda australis (syn. Themeda triandra), commonly called Kangaroo Grass, is a medium-sized tufted native grass with green foliage most of the year. In autumn and heading into winter, it changes colour and exhibits reddish and purple tones. In most coastal climates, it will hold its colour through winter. For inland climates, under heavy frost, the foliage will brown off for the winter, and in spring, new growth will reshoot. Kangaroo grass makes a great informal lawn; the key is to mow the grass on a high setting to get the best results.
