Nafray is a grass native to Australia and shouldn’t be confused with the South African variety call Foxtail Grass, (Pennisetum setaceum), which has been declared a noxious weed. Although Nafray has a viable seed it isn’t classed as invasive. Saying this we have had some customers in Queensland, Northern NSW and Newcastle inform us that they have had Nafray self-seed in their garden. With the advent of climate change this could begin to occur in more southern climates as well. We mention this not to scare gardeners but to make you aware that there have been known instances of self-seeding. One way to prevent this is to cut the flower heads off before they set seed in late autumn.
