Old Man Banksia

Old Man Banksia, Banksia serrata, is a small 10 to 12 m high tree, commonly found growing on the east coast of Victoria, NSW and Queensland. It is a slow growing tree and is very long lived, that over time will develop its charactistic gnarled warty trunk. Banksia serrata is excellent for exposed coastal gardens as it handles the harsh conditions. It has large grey / green flower spikes from summer to autumn, followed by large woody seed cones. This Banksia makes a great feature plant.
